Get ready, Eureka! The beloved 'Good Morning America' team is about to shine a spotlight on your community in a way that you won't want to miss. This week, as part of a grand nationwide celebration leading up to the 250th anniversary of the United States, ABC News will be broadcasting live from the breathtaking Redwood Sky Walk at Sequoia Park Zoo.
On Thursday, February 12, 2026, viewers will see GMA contributor Becky Worley among the towering trees, sharing what makes California—and specifically, Eureka—a truly remarkable place. This is an exciting time for our city, which is also marking its own 170th anniversary. We take immense pride in having the broadcast highlight both the Sequoia Park Zoo and the unique Redwood Sky Walk, showcasing Eureka's stunning natural landscapes and vibrant community spirit.
Invitation for Community Participation
To foster a sense of inclusivity, around 50 local residents will be invited to attend the live event, cheering on Eureka as they appear in the background. The City of Eureka aims to ensure diverse representation by reaching out to various civic organizations and partners, asking each group to send a limited number of participants. Given the tight schedule and the need for safety, this method allows us to include voices from across our community effectively.
While only a select few can be present at the filming site, we encourage everyone in our community to engage by sharing their favorite aspects of Eureka on social media. Residents can post photos, videos, or heartfelt messages and tag the City of Eureka. In the lead-up to the broadcast, the City will reshare these posts to showcase the love for our community.
Tune In and Stay Connected
Although the live broadcast will feature only a small audience on-site, we invite everyone to watch 'Good Morning America' live on Thursday morning. The City will also keep the community engaged by providing updates, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and highlights from the broadcast through its social media channels and website. Due to filming regulations and scheduling, some content may be shared after the event, and we appreciate everyone's enthusiasm and understanding as we work to present Eureka on such a prominent platform.
Temporary Trail Closure & Early-Morning Filming
To facilitate the live broadcast, the trail beneath the Redwood Sky Walk will be temporarily closed during the early hours of February 12th. Filming will occur before the zoo animals wake up, so we kindly ask the public to refrain from visiting the broadcast area during this time. The trail will reopen as soon as the filming concludes.
